Btw, well done for adding isiah's qoute. Im jew and there is a tradition in certain commuinities (north african rooted) to add this qoute in the end of the blessings at prayers. But speaking on relationships with food. Im 25, stopped drinking sugary baverages at 16, and im cool with it. But for me the main food focus is to eat normal food at first priority. And it as much as you need while being calm. The rambam (a great jewish philosopher from andalousia, medival muslim spain) said that the basic principles of health are to manage your emotions, eat wisely, and being phisicaly active.

My mom is a multi-certified personal trainer, even educated in fitness with a degree in physical education and fitness. She’s been working in this industry for basically her entire life, starting as a PE teacher to gymnastics coach to personal training to fitness class coach and heck, even a swimming instructor. My point is, she’s basically a super human and she looks GREAT, especially at her age. She’s super fit and genuinely enjoys working out. But does that mean she doesn’t drink? Heck no, she loves wine. Not have a social life? She’s literally the life of any party. Not eat cake? She will probably makes like 3 cakes a week. Not eat out? We ordered sushi 2 days ago for dinner. Despite all of her working out, inane hours she does her swimming and gymnastics and conditioning classes, etc., she doesn’t have a six pack. She isnt out here promoting a workout to give people thigh gaps or help “fix” their hip dips. I often get sad and even jealous sometimes that she looks so so good, and it makes me upset to compare my body to her knowing I will never be that skinny and never have the motivation to work out like she does. But whenever I get that way, I have to remind myself that this is her JOB. Just like Ken’s job is beach, my mom’s is gym. So I can’t be too hard on myself because my reality is completely different than hers, and comparing my body and my needs to her will never make me feel better. It breaks my heart to see middle schoolers make “what I eat in a day” video showing GUM as a snack. I am so glad I decided to unfollow all these “fitness influencers” on insta because if it was messing with my mental health, I cannot imagine what it’s doing for kids and teens. 😢 Anyways shoutout to my mom for being amazing 😂🫶🏼

@@thatlilbeach5430 that's just what some people say though? People have their own interpretation of things the Bible says, however it is stated that a woman is a man's missing rib and a woman is to be submit to her husband.. but it doesn't mean completely.. if the husband is a good man who follows Gods teaching, he will lead you in the correct path. however if the man is unholy he will lead to astray from God and you could fall. But the Bible says we need eachother to survive and a man is as dependent on his woman as a woman is for her man. The only man you should be submitting to is a righteous husband who you can trust with ur life.

The thing I particularly enjoy about video essays, is understanding the indoctrination of society within different aspects. whether it be through fashion, or politics, or in this case the gym. I have been a victim to toxic gym culture, and I never thought it was that bad but videos like this are such an amazing way to understand yourself and society and help you keep your head up and avoid endorsing these harmful cultures. The problem with the internet is the fact that people watch a 15 second clip and call it being aware, for all we know it could be waffle. Videos like yours have hours worth of research and broader understanding as well as coming with recites and promotes learning and understanding in such a different way. Thank you for the content!!

As a woman that is a gym head I resonated so much with this video. My weight has fluctuated so much and Ive been exercising for 4 years now, five days straight all while maintaining a healthy diet and watching what I eat when I do treat myself. I still struggle with self confidence. I wish that people (including myself) would prioritize HEALTH over how they look on the outside. Its easier said than done but I have found myself so unhappy with myself because I don’t look like all these women influencers. I am constantly chasing how they look and not what my body wants of me and loving who I am and not some other woman’s body over mine

Everyone that is focused on losing weight or trying to eat better should not take advice from a 20 something with no certification or licensing in that field. There is no secret to losing weight. Also carbs need to stop being demonized, because they are there to keep you hydrated absorbing liquids, hence "carbo-HYDRATE." Don't overindulge, but just get educated on food.

Madonna is actually paying hommage to a voodoo lwa (spirit) named Erzulie Freda. Currently I'm not working so thankfully I had the time to focus on myself and especially my health. Working out does take a lot of time in your day. I do home workouts which can take me 1 and a half to 2 hours. I'll clean, cook, and eat after. I rest for about an hour and take my dog for a walk and sometimes I'll go for a jog. I also been in a mainly vegetarian/pescatarian diet. I've been doing this for half a year and I'm not shredded, I still have a bit of a bloated belly no matter how much I work it out and watch what I eat (it is normal to have a belly like that no matter how skinny!!!!). My body is definitely more toned and I have gradually lost weight, but how I view it is I workout to be healthy and strong! And I diet for my health issues but also to maintain a healthy weight. I used to be 145 lbs at one point and I'm proud to be at 121 lbs now. It wasn't easy, it still isn't and it is hard to maintain that weight. One thing I learned is it takes time and a lot of trail and error to see what works best for your body. But please keep in mind that it's important to also be happy with what you're doing both mentally and physically if that makes sense.

I have a hard time feeling empathy towards this. I just don't understand why people think they can just do exactly what someone else does and end up exactly like them. It's ridiculous and illogical to think that. You have entirely different genetic disposition. At the same time though, if you're not super into gym culture and you just gym to "tone" your body you'll definitely fall for watching "fitness influencers". I feel like the bigger issue is that there's a fundamental misunderstanding about fitness and health. When you go to the gym it has to be about more than appearance and being skinny, you can't look for short cuts, and you have got to figure out what works for you specifically. People just want the easy answer to their dream body. There is no easy answer and any influencer selling you that dream is lying. Ig it's hard for me to understand because I was really into sports throughout grade school and I learned how to lift really young but even then nobody taught me how to eat well or how to know what my body needs. That part was kinda just a no brainer. Idk I could very well just be missing some fundamental point but I really can't understand how people fall this far down. Either way, I try not to be judgemental about it because everyone's life is different and just like genetic disposition, you're also more susceptible to end up in certain places in life.

Fitness Influencers annoy me. But the girls who film men for something as simple as glancing at them is horrid. There are truly people who creep on women at some gyms (I have never experienced that myself in all the gyms I’ve been to), but a guy glancing at a woman? Nah. Sometimes people glance at people. Whether in the gym or not. I think it’s made some women without gym experience terrified of men at the gym when most of the time, it’s perfectly fine. They’re too busy doing their own sets Edit: also, a lot of influencers (both male and female) make themselves look so good using fake tanner and taking their photos after a gym session when they still have the pump. Just about everyone’s muscles are more defined when they have the pump. I also work an 8-5 and I go to the gym immediately after for about an hour. I hate it in the moment lol but it really helps me shut off my work brain so I can actually enjoy the rest of the evening. And my anxiety has decreased so much I’ve been able to drop my medication dose way down. It’s great! Just don’t overdo and obsess over it

So ironic that I just started going to the gym. I spend about an 1hr-1hr 30min in the gym. I feel insecure sometimes because I see ppl spending 2hrs + in the gym but this video made me realize I need to relax and take things at a slow pace since I just started. I don’t even know what I’m doing sometimes😂. I’ve had an eating disorder in the past and I want to make sure that I’m eating 3 meals daily and not starving myself just to lose weight faster. That definitely affects your mental healthy and it’s very unhealthy. I also go to work from 8am-5pm so I go to the gym afterwards which is exhausting so I shouldn’t feel insecure about not putting in 2hrs of a workout.

I think black women should just stop going on these shows altogether. The creators of these shows are white, producers white and majority of cast white. There are shows on the network OWN like Ready to Love that actually show all black singles dating and it's actually pretty good. I just wish we as black women would stop fixating on these shows that are made for white people. Making folks who have the history of racism that they have feel bad for not making you their standard of beauty is desperate. They barely have Asian people on these shows. And honestly your features aren't that different from the bachelorette Tashia who you claim “is not black" when she's half black so that makes her black. The chick you interviewed literally said she was practically ignored because of her African hair and features, is she not black too?

My biggest pet peeve in the fitness community is the recording. I had a trainer who was building his instagram. I told him very early into working together that I didn’t want to be filmed. He didn’t listen and kept posting me on his page. When I fired him, he used my own personal experiences that led me to fitness as content. I was mortified, because I did not give permission for any of it. I’m sorry but recording isn’t needed unless there isn’t a mirror around to see your form. You can journal your gains, and take progress pics when needed.

At the moment it’s up in a little heavier . I’ve been struggling trying to literally starve myself, workouts, walking, dieting powders and teas . Ive had to tell myself move at my own pace and try not to let social media get to my head

Amongst my friends there are two who can eat truckloads of food, not exercise and still look like plastic mannequins, (which is not me being mean)-whereas one of my friends gains weight so easily, even when her diet is always limited and when she slacks on her gym schedule; her weight shoots up. Then there is the rest of us who are regular shmegulars falling for influencer/k-pop/curvy body stuff😂

Also we all have different body types and bones and genetics. Like some of my friends I grew up with have the craziest curves-which you can see in their mums and cousins. Some have huge shoulders and narrow hips. Others have rectangular, apple or pear shape. I am happy I actually grew up in quite a healthy environment where no one cared much about body types until we grew up and got our phones, that is.

This video is extremely important, thank you for raising for awareness on this topic. It’s really not talked about enough.

Ok not going to lie your video is decent and I do agree with u on the fitness influencer aspect but u put a ton of stereotypes in the video which to me makes it no better than the influencers…..there is no set amount of meals u have to eat a day, break-fast is supposed to be your lightest meal of the day not the heaviest, 1 hour of walking followed by an hour of lifting not a good workout balance, also I work 9-5 and make it to the gym 5-6 times a week it’s not that hard……this video feels more personal for u than anything🤷🏾‍♂️

I’m going to the stir the pot a little bit , a lot of people who get weightloss surgery are also a part of the harmful fitness society, these people are getting that surgery, and then telling people they lost weight with diet and exercise , but don’t mention they had a weightloss surgery

I unfollowed alot of fitness influencers simply because it got impossible to not compare myself to them, and it only fed into my own insecurities. I had to remind myself that unlike fitness influencers, the rest of us actually have lives to live outside the gym and we don't get paid to work out. Adding to that, chasing a certain look or aesthetic should be your lowest priority when it comes to fitness, because otherwise you'll never be satisfied. Ever since I had this change in my mindset and got more in tune with my body, I actually started enjoying working out and being proud of the gains I made so far.

I mean, tbh, it is pretty selfish and short sighted. It is the end of our current civilization, less intelligent people will rule the world through the many children they are having. And people are seeming to forget that they will have an entire later half of their lives where they are just alone at home, friends are all preoccupied by their own families, no one to take care of them in their old age but nursing home employees that treat them like garbage. Being “child free” is being willfully ignorant of the fact that you will inevitably grow old. Oh, you don’t want to do hard things? See how that works out for you long-term. It’s your sense of duty towards things like this that end up saving the world, not seeing how many career or travel accolades you can rack up for yourself. Oh but wait, nobody has a sense of duty anymore, y’all just care about how YOU currently feel in the moment.😂

The supply and demand is a lie. The Russians did the same thing in ww1. The USA businesses hoarded its goods and claimed it was a “shortage” just so they can spike the prices. It started with toilet paper, coins, baby formula, ect

The scale is not your friend, just as long as you like what you see in the reflection, you're good. Some times it says that you've gained weight and it's just water or muscle weight.
